Bro Rene Velarde, El Shaddai Leader
The Son Rises Within El Shaddai Catholic Faith
as Bro Rene Tours Australia
The number of followers for El Shaddai have been estimated to be in the many millions, such as ten million.
However when asked in the RFA Interview about this, Bro Rene replied in a humble manner, saying that the number could be more or less, as he did not want to put an exact figure on it. Bro Rene's father, Bro Mike Velarde is possibly the most recognised charismatic religious leader in the Philippines. |
In 1984,Mike Velarde founded the El Shaddai movement and it has become an eclectic expression of Philippine folk Christianity, the Charismatic movement and Roman Catholicism.
Bro Rene is humbly nurturing the world-wide El Shaddai movement as his father gets older. Bro Rene was very popular at the El Shaddai Canberra chapter when he visited, as they turned out in their hundreds to see him.
